B. Bureau et C. Thivolet, PITUITARY ENLARGEMENT IN THE FOLLOW-UP OF A PATIENT WITH CONGENITAL ADRENAL-HYPERPLASIA, Annales d'Endocrinologie, 57(5), 1996, pp. 443-444
The aim of the suppression of pituitary adrenal axis in the management
of patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia is to reduce the hype
rsecretion of adrenal androgens. However the local consequences of the
hyperreactivity of corticotropin cells during inadequate therapy is n
ot well defined. In this case report, we present the observation of a
28-year-old patient with congenital adrenal hyperplasia with inadequat
e treatment in whom a pituitary enlargement was detected after MR imag
ing for headaches. This observation underlines the need for a pituitar
y follow-up in these specific patients.
