Abstract
Endoscopic carpal tunnel release has become an increasingly popular me thod of surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. Consequently, th e contraindications to this technically challenging procedure continue to evolve. We describe two patients with carpal tunnel syndrome and u nusual anomalies and pathology of the hook of the hamate that we belie ve represent relative or absolute contraindications to endoscopic carp al tunnel release.
