Phase composition of the alloys belonging to the TiFe-Ti2Cu section of
the ternary system Ti-Fe-Cu is studied. The section is bounded by the
TiFe and Ti2Cu intermetallic compounds os two corresponding sides of
the ternary system. The section is not quasibinary; it crosses two non
variant II-class equilibria at 990 and 700 degrees C. The conditions o
f the formation of the Ti2Cu compound are studied. The hypothesis that
the Ti2Cu compound fuses with an open maximum at 1012+/-3 degrees C i
s confirmed.
