Abstract
We demonstrate what is to our knowledge the first frequency-resolved o ptical gating (FROG) technique to measure ultrashort pulses from an un amplified Ti:sapphire laser oscillator without direction-of-time ambig uity. This technique utilizes surface third-harmonic generation as the nonlinear-optical effect and, surprisingly, is the most sensitive thi rd-order FROG geometry yet. (C) 1996 Optical Society of America
