Ch. Pan et al., EXPRESSION OF 2 CDNA ENCODING CLASS-I CHITINASES OF RICE IN ESCHERICHIA-COLI, Bioscience, biotechnology, and biochemistry, 60(8), 1996, pp. 1346-1348
Two cDNAs encoding class I chitinases of rice were expressed in Escher
ichia coli. The cDNAs were fused to the MS2-polymerase gene in an expr
ession vector, pEx31. The fusion proteins, expressed under the control
of the lambda P-L-promoter, showed the chitinase activity independent
of the existence of the hevein domain. The enzymatic hydrolysis of co
lloidal chitin by the fusion proteins showed that the proteins were en
do-type enzymes.
