The effect of curing kinetics on the effective cross-linking density i
n semi-IPNs based on crosslinked polyurethane, in which the molecular
mass of the polyether fragment was varied, and poly(butyl methacrylate
) was studied. The molecular mass of the polyether fragment affects th
e rate of formation of poly(butyl methacrylate). Kinetic conditions ar
e the main factor that controls the cross-linking density of the resul
tant semi-IPNs. The effective cross-linking density in a semi-IPN is a
lways lower than that of the initial polyurethane network.
