Abstract
PAN films pyrolyzed by IR irradiation were studied using X-ray photoel ectron, Auger and electron energy loss spectroscopies. The data of X-r ay photoelectron and Anger, spectroscopies indicate that N:C ratio dec reases in the course of pyrolysis. The energy of main plasmon was dete rmined from the spectra of electron energy loss. The measurements show ed that the pyrolysis of PAN films under IR irradiation results in for mation of a material that differs from thermolyzed PAN in that it has a higher nitrogen content and a higher density of valence electrons.
