Dx. Tong et al., VALVE INJECTION FOR GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS ON SMALL-BORE OPEN-TUBULAR COLUMNS, The Journal of microcolumn separations, 8(5), 1996, pp. 353-359
An injection valve with a small internal loop actuated by pneumatic sw
itching was used for high-speed gas chromatography (GC). Small interna
l diameter (50 and 100 mu m i.d.) open tubular columns were used for i
nvestigations of the injector performance. Several valve injection sys
tems have been tested. The influence of the sample solvents, the injec
tion temperature, the connection methods, and the time-split technique
under GC conditions have been investigated. High resolution, fast sep
aration speed, and reproducible GC analyses have been achieved. This s
tudy indicates that valve injection onto small internal diameter open
tubular columns is a promising technique for high-speed and high-resol
ution GC analysis. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
