The factors that affect the thermal distortion of the laser mirror ref
lecting surface under high density of irradiation are analyzed. Main a
ttention is paid to the influence of thermal parameters such as the he
at-transfer coefficient in the cooled layer, thermal conductivity of t
he reflecting layer and the skeleton, and the thermal expansion coeffi
cient of the reflecting layer. The effect of the geometric and mechani
cal characteristics on thermal distortion is treated as well. Based on
the results of analysis and available experimental data, computer cod
es are developed to calculate the stress-strain state of the cooled mi
rrors. A nomogram is proposed for preliminary assessment of the mirror
characteristics.
