Abstract
Two monoterpenoid indole alkaloids and four beta-carbolines were isola ted from a hybrid cell suspension culture generated from two Apocynace ous plants, Rauwolfia serpentina Benth. and Rhazya stricta Decaisne. T his indicates that the function of alkaloid biosynthesis is retained a fter hybrid formation and that alkaloids not previously detected in th e parental plants or cell cultures are formed.
