The effect of electric field on the critical current of SNS contact is
studied in the framework of Ginzburg-Landau theory. We show that elec
tric field can significantly enlarge the critical current of the conta
ct. ?This effect is especially strong when the temperature of the samp
le is close to the superconducting transition temperature of normal la
yer T-cn. The electric field effect depends on film thickness: the thi
cker the film the weaker the effect. Nevertheless, it can be significa
nt for a thick film when the temperature is close to T-cn. The coopera
tive effect of electric and magnetic fields is also studied.
