Im. Tang et al., EFFECT OF NITROGEN ABSORPTION ON THE MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF THE INTERMETALLIC SMCO5, Solid state communications, 99(11), 1996, pp. 849-852
The effects of nitriding the samarium-cobalt intermetallic SmCo5 are s
tudied. It is observed that increased amounts of nitrogen are absorbed
as the SmCo5 powders are heated at higher temperatures in a flowing N
-2 atmosphere. The saturation magnetization M(s) of the bonded SmCo5Nx
magnets initially increases as the amount of nitrogen absorbed is inc
reased but then decreases as additional nitrogen is absorbed. A possib
le explanation of this behavior is given. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier
