A 12 year old girl presented to Ethio-Swedish Children's Hospital with
limping and tumour mass on her right ankle in October 1994 and excisi
onal biopsy was reported as Kaposi's sarcoma (KS). Her clinical presen
tation is described in detail. The human immune-deficiency virus (HIV)
test was negative. Log book review of pathology report of KS in child
ren revealed another child of 2.5 years who presented in 1981 to the O
phthalmology Department of Menelik II Hospital with conjunctival mass
and lymphadenopathy. Detailed clinical presentation could not be retri
eved. KS has not been reported in children in Ethiopia. In this report
, Kaposi's sarcoma in childhood is reviewed.
