A brief introduction to the biometric known as Dynamic Signature Verif
ication is presented. Some of the issues surrounding its uptake are di
scussed and an increased awareness of this new technology is advocated
in the forensic science community. A novel dynamic signature acquisit
ion tablet is described including the specification, design, and imple
mentation processes. The provisional trial results of an artificial, n
eural-network based verification algorithm indicate that an acceptable
performance is realisable at low cost.
