Da. Howe et Tj. Millar, CHEMISTRY IN ANISOTROPIC ASYMPTOTIC GIANT BRANCH WINDS, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 282(1), 1996, pp. 21-25
We have constructed a model for chemistry in the outflow of an asympto
tic giant branch (AGB) star, using a spheroidal anisotropy in density,
after that used by Jura. The predicted distributions of a selection o
f representative species are shown, and it is suggested that the abund
ance distributions observed by interferometry in IRC + 10216 may be th
e result of directional variation in outflow velocity.
