D. Moller et al., ORIGIN OF PHOTOSMOG IN SAXONIA-ANHALT - R ESULTS OF MEASUREMENT CAMPAIGNS IN 1993 AND 1994, Gefahrstoffe, Reinhaltung der Luft, 56(7-8), 1996, pp. 301-305
Two complex measurement campaigns have been made to study the summersm
og in June and July 1993 and 1994. It included the network of the ''La
ndesamt'', the Brocken mountain station, a mobile station near Harzger
ode and Gohrendorf/Leuna respectively, two doppler sodar machines, and
an airplane. During this period the ozone concentration rose continuo
usly from about 40 ppb to 90 ppb, i.e., on average by 10 ppb per day.
As possible causes of this photosmog period typical meteorological con
ditions and different source and transport conditions have been found.
Vertical exchange processes have been found very important for the gr
ound level ozone concentration in the upper Harz mountains.
