Abstract
The scattering pattern of a coherent light beam incident perpendicular ly on a bismuth silicate crystal in the presence of an applied electri c field is investigated. A theoretical model is shown to give good agr eement with the measurements provided the piezoelectric and photoelast ic effects are incorporated into the usual coupled wave equations.
