Gl. Huang et al., NOVEL GRAY IMAGE-PROCESSING IN A SINGLE OPERATION OPTICAL MORPHOLOGICAL PROCESSOR, Optics communications, 130(1-3), 1996, pp. 143-152
A novel optical morphological processing technique with only one opera
tion for gray images is proposed and an incoherent gray image real-tim
e processor is constructed. In this processor the morphological proces
sing of gray images and gray structure elements is simplified into two
convolution thresholds (one between a gray image and a binary structu
re element, and another between a binary image and a gray structure el
ement) and one algebra operation. It can reduce the number of operatio
ns and increase the processing speed greatly. Some applications of opt
ical morphological gray image processing have been studied.
