Zinc(II) chloride/acetate complexes of title ligands have been synthes
ized in MeOH/water medium. The compounds were characterized by their e
lemental analyses, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, and sp
ectroscopic data. The molecular formulas of the new complexes were fou
nd to be: [(C17H20ClN2S)(4)ZnCl2]Cl-4 where C17H20CIN2S = protonated c
hlorpromazine; [(C19H25N2S)(2)ZnCl2]Cl-2 where C19H25N2S = protonated
ethopropazine; [(C17H21N2S)(2)ZnCl]Cl-3 where C17H21N2S = protonated p
romethazine; [(C21H27N2S2)(2)ZnCl2]Cl-2. MeOH and [(C21H27N2S2)ZnCl](O
Ac)(2) where C21H27N2S2 = protonated thioridazine; and [(C21H26F3N3S)Z
nCl3]Cl where C21H26F3N3S = diprotonated trifluoperazine. All compound
s are diamagnetic and ionic in nature. Structures for the complexes ar
e proposed.
