Deformation fields of interfacial cracks in adhesively jointed double-
cantilever beams (DCBs) are investigated by moire interferometry. The
deformation field in a macro-scale is found to be characterizable by r
emote stress intensity factors and the disturbance of the singular str
ess field, due to the presence of the adhesive layer, is localized. Th
e moire fringes also provide a means for the determination of remote s
tress intensity factors. The effect of the adhesive layer on the loadi
ng parameters for adhesively jointed DCBs is studied. Copyright (C) 19
