A. Ruebner et al., SYNTHESIS OF BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN DIMERS AS CARRIER SYSTEMS FOR PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY OF CANCER, Journal of inclusion phenomena and molecular recognition in chemistry, 25(1-3), 1996, pp. 35-38
The aim of our investigation was the development of carrier systems fo
r an application of inert drugs in polyphasic photodynamic tumor thera
py. As carrier systems, beta-cyclodextrin dimers linked at their prima
ry and secondary faces by spacers of varying lengths were synthesized.
Cyclodextrins are known to form stable inclusion complexes with porph
yrinoid photosensitizers. The influence of spacer length on the P-cycl
odextrin dimer inclusion complexes with porphyrinoid photosensitizers
was studied.
