T. Saito et al., A NEW ACCESS-CONTROL METHOD BASED UPON FRAME ADDRESSING FOR DISTRIBUTED ACCESS SUBSCRIBER NETWORK, Electronics & communications in Japan. Part 1, Communications, 79(8), 1996, pp. 64-75
A distributed access network in which the optical fiber is shared amon
g terminals through media access control has been examined as the subs
criber part of broadband integrated services digital network (B-ISDN).
In a distributed access subscriber network, unlike peer-to-peer commu
nications which can be seen in local area networks, the main traffic f
lows are between exchange node and terminals. Therefore, a new access
control scheme based on this characteristic should be developed. In th
is paper, a new access control method based on frame addressing is pro
posed and simulation analysis is performed. Compared with other method
s, it is shown that, by employing cyclic reset and back-pressure mecha
nism into the access control, a fair and efficient network access can
be achieved for various types of traffic.
