This research was carried out to determine different forms of potassiu
m in regosol of the State of Paraiba, Brazil and to establish the poss
ible relationships among them. The following parameters were analyzed:
exchangeable K, nonexchangeable K, total K, K extracted by Bray 1, po
tassium potential and potassium buffering capacity (PBC). High relatio
nships were found between the different forms of soil potassium. The n
onexchangeable K did not present relationship with potassium potential
. The soils studied presented low PBC, indicating possible nutrient lo
sses through leaching.
