Cadmium(ll) chloride complexes of the N-alkylphenothiazine ligands, 1a
-e, have been prepared in MeOH/water medium. The compounds were charac
terized based on their elemental analyses, molar conductivity, magneti
c susceptibility, and spectroscopic data. The molecular formulas of th
e new complexes were found to be: [Cd(CP.HCl)(5)(H2O)]Cl-2, 3, and [Cd
2Cl(CP.HCl)(7)]Cl-3.MeOH, 4, where CP = chlorpromazine; [CdCl(L.HCl)(2
)]Cl where L = promethazine (PM), 5, or thioridazine (TR), 6; [Cd(EP.H
Cl)(2)]Cl-2, 7, where EP = ethopropazine; and [CdCl(TF.2HCl)(2)]Cl, 8,
where TF = trifluoperazine. All compounds are diamagnetic and ionic i
n nature. Tentative structures for the complexes have been proposed.
