Lungs and pulmonary lymphnodes with nodular lesions from 886 sheep and
253 goats revealed changes of pulmonary mycoses in 16 cases having le
sions of aspergillosis (8), zygomycosis (2), candidiasis (1) and nocar
diosis (5). Out of these 16 cases, both histopathological lesions and
isolations were positive in 1 sheep and 2 goats for A. fumigatus, 2 sh
eep and 2 goats for A. flavus and 1 sheep for Candida albicans. Positi
ve precipitation reactions were detected in 2 goats for A. flavus and
in sheep for C. albicans. One sheep for aspergillosis, I sheep and I g
oat for zygomycosis and 3 sheep and 2 goats for nocardiosis were diagn
osed on histopathological basis alone. Detection of precipitin antibod
ies in 19 sheep and 33 goats for A. fumigatus, in 26 sheep and 47 goat
s for A. flavus, and in 8 sheep and 26 goats for both amongst 410 samp
les screened indicated prevalence of subclinical infection in a large
