Abstract
Six weeks feeding experiment involving 10 growing rabbits (New Zealand White and Angora) of 12-week age under each treatment on diets with o r without vegetable protein supplement (deoiled groundnut-meal), revea led significantly lowered growth rate, feed efficiency and dressing pe rcentage on diets with no protein supplement. These results confirmed the need for optimising the dietary protein level for growth, despite protein recycling through natural physiological phenomenon of caecotro phy.
