Abstract
Transient temperature fields in solid cylinders are a subject of inter est in various technical fields, particularly those associated with nu clear fuel elements and electrically heated rods The paper presents a practical method for the analysis of such fields which consists of the numerical integration of the inverse Fourier transform of the system response characteristic. The method has the advantage of high accuracy , which is similar. to that of the analytical method. It can be applie d to considerably more complicated heat transfer transient problems th an the analytical method with no solution stability problems as they o ccur in finite elements analysis.
