Abstract
Today, academicians in obstetrics and gynecology are required to assum e leadership roles in teaching, patient care, research, and administra tion. The junior faculty member facing these challenges needs a guide to help him or her adjust to the culture of the academic department. T hese lessons can be described in an alphabet of academic medicine.
