G. Trapani et al., EFFECT OF 2-HYDROXYPROPYL-BETA-CYCLODEXTRIN ON THE AQUEOUS SOLUBILITYOF THE ANESTHETIC AGENT PROPOFOL (2,6-DIISOPROPYLPHENOL), International journal of pharmaceutics, 139(1-2), 1996, pp. 215-218
The inclusion complexation of Propofol (2,6-diisopropylphenol), an int
ravenous anaesthetic agent in clinical use, with 2-hydroxypropyl-beta-
cyclodextrin (HP beta CyD) was investigated for the purpose of improvi
ng the low aqueous solubility and developing a potentially acceptable
aqueous formulation. The aqueous solubility of propofol was increased
as a function of HP beta CyD concentration affording a linear phase-so
lubility profile.
