Abstract
The inclusion complexation of Propofol (2,6-diisopropylphenol), an int ravenous anaesthetic agent in clinical use, with 2-hydroxypropyl-beta- cyclodextrin (HP beta CyD) was investigated for the purpose of improvi ng the low aqueous solubility and developing a potentially acceptable aqueous formulation. The aqueous solubility of propofol was increased as a function of HP beta CyD concentration affording a linear phase-so lubility profile.
