HIGH-SPEED ATM SONET INFRASTRUCTURE RESEARCH IN ATDNET/

The Advanced Technology Demonstration Network (ATDNet) was established by DARPA to enable increased collaboration among the Department of De fense and other federal agencies. Its primary goal is to serve as an e xperimental testbed for high-speed network research and defense initia tives with emphasis on ATM and SONET technologies. This article presen ts an overview of the network infrastructure research that has been pe rformed on ATDNet. Specific areas of focus include network management, signaling, traffic management, supercomputer interconnect, and networ k testing. The authors present their research activities and results i n each of these areas.
