Abstract
The first ModuleJet headbox, together with a specially developed contr ol unit, the Profilmatic M, was put into operation on January 3, 1994. With this new headbox concept, the cross directional basis weight pro file is controlled by sectional adjustment of stock consistency. If re quired, the CD fibre orientation profile can also be adjusted. With Mo duleJet, the headbox slice opening remains completely parallel, fulfil ling a basic prerequisite for uniform CD paper characteristics. This a rticle reviews the background leading to the development, mode of oper ation and operating experience gained with this new headbox concept.
