T. Kabasawa et M. Sengoku, CHARACTERISTICS OF MOBILE COMMUNICATION TRAFFIC IN A 2-WAY BAND-SHAPED SERVICE AREA, Electronics & communications in Japan. Part 1, Communications, 79(9), 1996, pp. 34-42
In a cellular mobile communication system, a service area is divided i
nto many cells for efficient use of channels, It is necessary to take
into consideration intercell vehicle movement for teletraffic performa
nce evaluation of such cellular mobile communication systems. Its perf
ormance evaluation has been done for a one-dimensional band-shaped are
a, e.g., a highway, assuming that vehicle movement is one way. This pa
per presents a theoretical performance evaluation of a one-dimensional
band-shaped area, assuming two-way vehicle movement. First, whether s
teady-state performance for the traffic offered to each cell is consta
nt is analyzed and then the transient characteristic for the case in w
hich traffic varies with time is analyzed. Through a comparison of the
oretical and simulation results, the validity of the theoretical resul
t is demonstrated.
