A total of 548 yearling, cross-bred beef steers weighing 320 to 385 kg
were used in this study of Fusobacterium necrophorum bacteria/leukoto
xoid efficacy in the control of naturally occurring hepatic abscesses.
Livers were examined at the time of slaughter by an individual blinde
d to cattle treatment. Findings from this study demonstrated the effic
acy of a F. necrophorum bacterin/leukotoxoid in the reduction of hepat
ic abscesses.
