The purpose of this work is to present a method for the calculation of
secondary electron spectra generated by photons in water vapour in th
e energy region from 10 eV to 10 MeV. The cross sections below and abo
ve 1 keV have been treated separately. Examples are given for secondar
y electron spectra for low-energy photons, <100 eV, in which all elect
rons are photoelectrons, and at higher energy regions, such as for Co-
60 photons. The spectrum of the first generation of secondary electron
s, produced by Co-60 photons, which are mainly due to incoherent scatt
ering, was fitted with a set of polynomial functions which can be used
as input for electron radiation action calculations.
