Pv. Khadikar et al., EFFECT OF COUNTER IONS ON THE X-RAY-ABSORPTION DISCONTINUITY IN SOLIDCOMPLEXES, Physica status solidi. a, Applied research, 156(2), 1996, pp. 487-491
The results presented in this paper indicate that the counter ion dist
ant neighbours affect the X-ray absorption discontinuity. Copper (II)
complexes in the solid state with ethylenediamine (en) containing diff
erent counter ions (chloride, nitrate, sulphate ions) have been used a
s models for this purpose. The effect of the behaviour of counter ions
on X-ray absorption provides very fruitful information regarding the
influence of counter ion distant neighbours on X-ray absorption spectr
a. The results have been interpreted on the basis of electronegativity
and provide X-ray evidence for the nephelauxetic effect discovered by
Jorgensen on the basis of optical spectra.
