Sh. Gharaibeh et Im. Dwairi, REMOVAL OF NUTRIENTS FROM SEWAGE EFFLUENT IN STABILIZATION PONDS USING NATURAL ZEOLITE, Chemische Technik, 48(4), 1996, pp. 215-218
Jordanian natural zeolitic tuff samples were tested as a tertiary trea
tment on the effluent of wastewater stabilization ponds using laborato
ry scale column methods. The results of the column method showed that
the zeolitic tuff had high efficiencies for ammonium and phosphate rem
oval, and low efficiencies for nitrate elimination. The highest remova
l value for ammonium was 78.6% using raw zeolitic tuff of 0.5...0.25 m
m size fraction, while the highest removal for phosphate was 30.05% us
ing Ca-form zeolitic tuff of 0.5...0.25 mm grain size.
