A 4-week-old calf was presented for weakness, dyspnea and a heart murm
ur. The physical findings suggested a congenital heart disease. Radiog
raphy showed cardiac enlargement. Cardiac catheterisation revealed a l
eft to right shunt. Echocardiography visualised an atrial septal defec
t, an enlarged right atrium with a reduced left atrium and thickened a
trioventricular valves opening in a single ventricle. Further abnormal
ities, such as a malposition of the great arteries and an anomalous pu
lmonary venous connection, were observed at necropsy.
