Abstract
A steady-state ELMy H-mode profile data set of 68 DIII-D discharges an d 74 JET discharges is fitted with an error of 7-8%. The advantages of a parametrization of the plasma profiles in terms of a semi-parametri c representation, T(rho, I-p, (n) over bar, B-t, P-L, R), are describe d. The shape of the temperature profile depends almost exclusively upo n the size, R and q(95), with a secondary dependence on the heating po wer. The density profile depends primarily upon q(95) with a secondary dependence on (n) over bar. The line-average temperature <(T)over bar (e)>, scales as <(n)over bar (-0.31)> instead of (T) over bar similar to <(n)over bar (-1.0)>. The predicted ITER temperature is (T) over b ar = 17.1 keV.
