Abstract
Standardization of measurement conditions is essential for obtaining a ccurate, precise, and reproducible bioelectrical impedance analysis (B IA) data. Errors due to lack of measurement control are propagated in subsequent calculations of body composition and contribute to differen ces in predictive equations among investigators. Various individual an d environmental factors have been shown to influence BIA. We review th e factors that have been identified from the literature as being condi tions requiring standardization both for healthy subjects and for thos e in a medical setting.
