Abstract
Continuous distributions of kinetic ensembles of lignin and carbohydra tes with respect to entropy-energy parameters are approximated by disc rete distributions, which provides an adequate description of the kine tics of soda or sulfate cooking by a system of six differential rate e quations and a material-balance equation. The behavior of pine and lar ch woods during their combined cooking is analyzed.
