Abstract
This paper presents data on a novel, semi-automatic cell culturing dev ice called 'C5 Unit' (connectable circuit cell culture chamber) which was developed and adapted to the quality and size criteria set by the characteristics of the ESA Biorack. The suitability of the hardware fo r culturing cells under microgravity conditions was demonstrated by su ccessful culture of primary mouse cells from neonatal cerebellum and t estis aboard the Space Shuttle during the IML-2 mission.
