Abstract
Doubly differential cross sections for electron emission calculated us ing the CDW-EIS model and a simple approximation for the electron tran sport in the target are used to obtain dose profiles around the ion pa th for proton and alpha particles in water vapour. The contribution fr om each initial molecular orbital is determined. At large distances fr om the track, discrepancies are found with other models and with the w ell known r(-2) dependence.
