Abstract
A stochastic formulation of open quantum systems is applied to a micro scopic system-meter-reservoir model of quantum measurement. The quantu m statistical variance is decomposed into two variances which allow a quantitative description of the transformation from quantum to classic al probabilities during the process of measurement.
