S. Wegmuller, PALYNOSTRATIGRAPHIC STUDIES ON LIGNITE OF THE ZELLER GRAVELS SITUATEDNORTH OF THE NAPF MOUNTAIN (SWISS PLATEAU), Eclogae Geologicae Helvetiae, 89(2), 1996, pp. 789-809
Palynostratigraphic investigations on the so-called ''Zell lignite-com
plex'' from a profile taken in the gravel pit close to Zell (Swiss pla
teau) revealed a pollen sequence, which can be connected with the long
pollen sequences of the lignite area of Gondiswil/Ufhusen (Wegmuller
1992). The Zeli lignite-complex corresponds with the transition period
from the end of the last interglacial (Riss/Wurm) to the Early Wurm.
This period was characterized by phases with strong erosion and accumu
lation. The Lower ''Zeller Schotter'' were deposited during the Riss G
lacial and partially at the beginning of the last interglacial. The ''
Upper Zeller Schotter'' probably dale to the phases of sedimentation i
n Middle Wurm.
