CURRENT STRATEGIES OF WEED-CONTROL IN SUG AR-BEETS AND POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENTS

Generally speaking, weeds in sugar beets are targetted for control aft er germination of the former, regardless of the state of development o f the latter. This paper discusses the occurrence of intractable weeds in the context of agronomical and agricultural measures. In the short term, relatively little will change in the current possibilities of w eed control in sugar bests. In the longer run, however. new strategies of weed control in sugar beets have to be developed in order to fully exploit the advances in technology and plant breeding.
