Yl. Kuzmenko et al., EFFECT OF PHASE FLOW-RATES ON SEPARATION IN A COUNTERCURRENT CRYSTALLIZATION COLUMN, Theoretical foundations of chemical engineering, 29(4), 1995, pp. 363-367
The dependences of the separation efficiency of a countercurrent cryst
allization column, longitudinal concentration distributions, and the h
eight of transfer units on phase flow rates (capacity) are studied exp
erimentally and theoretically. It is found that a sharp increase in th
e rates of heat transfer and phase transformations in a certain zone o
f the column makes the process more stable to an increase in the flowr
ates: even a large increase in the flowrates fails to cause a consider
able decrease in the separation efficiency.
