A brief review and several new approximate solutions to inside and out
side problems for steady and transient mass and heat transfer between
a single spherical or nonspherical drop (or bubble) and a laminar tran
slational or shear flow at different values of Peclet and Reynolds num
bers are given. The accuracy of the approximate solutions relative to
available exact solutions is estimated.
