A general model of simple chemisorption is developed. The model descri
bes not only the limiting cases of fast and slow chemical reactions (a
s compared to characteristic diffusion times), but also the intermedia
te regime, in which the characteristic diffusion time for a passing re
actant is comparable with the characteristic reaction time. Asymptotic
relations for calculating the thickness of a reactive diffusion bound
ary layer are derived. Anew algorithm for matching the microkinetic an
d macrokinetic models of gas-liquid reactors is proposed.
