Abstract
We report the first successful attempt at the time-dependent nonpertur bative calculation of multiphoton ionization and above threshold ioniz ation in the presence of several open channels leaving the ion in exci ted states. After an outline of the theoretical approach based on a di scretized basis constructed in terms of B-splines, we also present ill ustrative results on atomic magnesium.
