Abstract
We demonstrate phase conjugation and aberration correction of femtowat t signals using nearly degenerate four-wave mixing in an atomic vapor. Our theoretical and experimental results are in qualitative agreement and show that the conditions under which the minimum signal can be ph ase conjugated are similar to the conditions under which the phase-con jugate mirror can he operated near its quantum-noise limit.
